Well today the pedometer says 30588 steps, or 14.45 miles. My guess is I don’t add more than 1500 steps before 9:30am tomorrow. So divide that by 3 (days I’ve worn the pedometer) and I average 10666.666 steps. 10,000 steps is a recommendation that a lot of people toss around as the number that a person who wants to acheive good health should walk. If one wants to lose weight by walking it’s recommended that one walk 12-15k steps a day.

Once again, this is mostly just an eye-opener for me. American adults average 3,000 to 5,000 steps a day. So it makes me realize that I’m not nearly as sedentry as I thought.

Since 9:30am yesterday, I’ve walked 17,974 steps, or 8.49 miles.

I bought a pedometer Sunday night. Sort of prompted by one of the Christmas gifts that I got. The Non-Runner’s Marathon Trainer. It’s broken down in 16 chapters, but before you start with the first chapter, you have need to have a certain ammount of athletic activity. I’m sure when they say a 30 minute walk 3 times a week, they mean in addition to your normal activity, but, for now… I just wanted to see how much I walked.

So I got this book. I guess I’m gonna run a marathon. :-)

This week at work we’re kind of slow, but we’re trying really hard to get caught up on some of the stuff we’ve been unable to get to over the past few weeks….I keep meaning to look for some sort of plugin or try to figure out how to keep a running monitor of how my training is going, but work has been keeping me busy. I’ll write again tomorrow. Hopefully.

I keep meaning to update. I always think about it just before I’m going out the door. I think, I’ll sit down and write just a bit. And think, that’s stupid. Right now, I’m sitting here, in my jacket, ready to go. Waiting for a call to tell us where to meet our friends from church for dinner. But I’m updating. So we’re going to dinner at rocky Run…. just got the call.

Thumbnail for Port Discovery PictureToday some friends joined Caleb and I for a special trip to Port Discovery. We had a great time. Click on Calebs head to see us all. We had a great time. I need to thank my employer for providing us with the corporate passes. It was the first time any of us had been there, and it was simply amazing. There was so much to do. It’s something that the kids can enjoy until their into their teens probably. We’ll definately be taking advantage of this employee perk again, probably several times over the next few months.

I was talking with Amy tonight when she asked me what I want for Christmas. I told her that I had setup a wishlist over on Del.icio.us…. I had tweaked my old template to have a space for the wishlist, but this new one doesn’t yet have a spot for it. So here’s a link for it.
