My mom sent me a check for my birthday. Money’s been sort of tight, so I wanted to buy stuff just for me! :-) I’m selfish that way. Anyway last night as the snow started to fall, Amy and I headed out shopping. I knew what I wanted- a TV Tuner card and a new CD Burner. My old burner was given to me in exchange for burning some software that was free to download :-) . It was only a 4x. Needless to say I don’t burn a whole lot of CD’s at home, especially since I have a 12x burner here at work. I didn’t see any reasonably priced CD burners at Best Buy, but I did see the TV Tuner. It was $49, with a $10 rebate ($39 total). Good price, not spectacular, but not expensive. We tried to go to Zany Brainy to take advantage of their going bankrupt sale, but they closed at 7pm. We headed over to another shopping center where we went to Borders and walked around for a bit. Caleb had a ball running around. The bookshelves which are all low enough for most adults to see over, made the store a maze for Caleb. He’d run down one aisle and come back down the other side surprised to see me. On our way out I decided we’d walk the two doors down to the CompUSA. It was still early. I went in, and right in the front aisle was some clearance stuff. They had 3 or 4, 40x Samsung CD-RW’s. 40-12-40- for $39. WOo HOo! Both things I wanted I found excellent prices on. I’m happy. I got them both installed. Haven’t tried the buner yet, because Nero doesn’t want to recognzie my burner. It has it listed on the supported burners page, but it doesn’t recognize it when I go into the program. I think I have to re-register it. It came with Roxio, but I really don’t want to install that. Only thing left to do is to run coax to my computer room, so I can watch cable. It really is very nice.

I talked to my dad for a while last night. We were both on our way home from our biblestudies. It had been a while since I talked to my dad for any length of time. I miss him. Love ya dad.

I would really like this weather, if it didn’t wreak havoc on our house! :-) More rain/snow predicted for this week. I’m really getting sick of the bailing/shovelling. Some big projects for the summer or spring are definately needed…. replace our gutters and downspouts, making sure that they direct water away from the house, and waterproof the basement, not sure what that will require yet. Not sure how we’ll afford them either.

This weekend was very wet, outside and in. I was so sore from bailing water yesterday that I stayed home from church. We got out long enough to go to the store. I went to a friends house for a bit to see about getting a CD player installed in our car. I washed the car at the car wash place.

We watched Mulholland Drive and Episode 2. Both I enjoyed very much. David Lynch is crazy, my brother watched the movie last week when we were stuck, he called it a whacked movie. I agree. I really enjoyed Episode 2, was definately frustrated that I missed it in the theater…. I can’t imagine. My tv is crappy, it’s not hooked up to any kind of external speakers or anything and the effects blew me away. Maybe one day I’ll get the chance to at least see it on a big screen with surround sound.

Well our basement is flooding. I don’t think it’s activly flooding, but there is still a lot of water in the basement. we bailed probably 100 gallons of water, and there’s still more work to do. I worked from about 1:30 until 6 or so. I’m taking a break, I think a friend’s coming to help, he called about 5:30, told me he had some errands to run and that he’d be here. It’s 8:45- we were originally supposed to meet about 45 minutes from here around 7 tonight…. so I’m sure that’s where he is. Hope he brings reinforcements.

Reversible.org is pretty cool. I’m sure that I don’t completely understand it, but I’m going to add my mark - and you can to by linking to this page - weblogs/usa/md/baltimore- if you link to it, it should add your page to the list of links on that page. It also looks like if you trackback that page that it will also add your link. So all you MT’ers in Baltimore, go to http://reversible.org/weblogs/usa/md/baltimore/ and send a trackback to it. If you’re not in MD or the US, make your own category - link to http://reversible.org/weblogs/canada/ or http://reversible.org/weblogs/usa/fl - whatever- it creates it. I’m geeking out on it.

My birthday is coming up. Just a few weeks away. My birthday always reminds me that spring is almost here. It’s almost always too cold to enjoy the outdoors. Last year for my birthday I got a new stunt kite and an indian hata. I got the hata in the air a few times, it’s so much fun to fly. I didnt’ have the time or patience to fuss with the stunt kite because Caleb was too small to really enjoy playing outside, it was tough to concentrate on it. I have a couple things this year making me look forward to flying. Caleb being old enough to play on playground equipment and run around while I’m flying the kite, Caleb being old enough to enjoy watching me fly the kite, and Darin being around so that maybe he’ll encourage me to get out more. This year, I don’t want a new kite for my birthday, although it’d be nice. I want some new line, all my old line from last year is either chewed up from improper storage or missing one of the matching winders, or something.

Paulo pointed these two pages out to me. Rebuilding Madison, is the web project of a guy who set up a Police Substation in the ground floor of his building, and the ongoing battle between residents and drug dealers. 2321 is the ongoing story between the residents and drug dealers in Patterson Park(I think). I know that Anne, goes through periods of documenting this kind of stuff. After more research, I realize that it’s the same person. :-) Sorry Anne! We really do need some more community action groups doing something, instead of just talking about it. Good luck guys! Also if you can somehow donate to these people, please do. They need all the encouragement and support they can get.

Rob points out information about a mis-reported sewage overflow. What can be done at this point?
