So I know that I haven’t been updating much, but I still took a little time tonight to upgrade to the newest version of MT. And converted the database to mySQL as well. Hope everything went well.

So I’ve moved out of the office I’ve been in for the last 9 months. Funny, Caleb moved out of his office of 9 months, 10 months ago
. I’m sitting at a new desk, directly behind my boss, my phone doesn’t work so my old number is forwarded to his. It’s a mess. So next Friday is the last day that I’ll be employed by SBS. I don’t have any plans as far as jobs are concerned. I’ve had one interview, that as of today, seems promising. Yesterday I had no idea when it would be available. So the recruiter is supposed to be setting up a phone interview that should be followed up by a personal interview, sometime next week. I’m pretty excited about it, I’ve got my fingers crossed, and am praying that it will work out. A new twist in it all is that the job is now a direct placement, as opposed to 6 month contract-to-hire, and the more money I end up making out of it, the more money that they make so I’m pretty excited.
I’ve got my second box of stuff to take home tonight. Last Friday I brought another box home. After this box is home, i’ll have nothing holding me back here! just one day- probably Tuesday night, I’ll get on the train, never to return!
I put some pictures up tonight- pictures of Amys brothers car after the accident and pictures of us at the beach today! Caleb had a ball.
I realize that it’s been a few days since any real update. I’ve purposely not written too much about my job search, needless to say, I’ve no real news. The only thing almost concrete is my end date!
7/12 will be my last day with SBS, unless of course they re-assign me between now and then…. let me just say, not likely to happen. 7/12 is exactly 4 days after my start date with Entex. I’ve been through a lot with them and am surprised that I’m still working for them. At this point I can’t imagine not having worked for the same company that whole time.
I’m sending out resumes, trying my best to schedule interviews but very few have come up. I’ve had a few leads that have ended up no where. I’m trusting God at this point…. and will continue to trust God as long as I need to.
Yesterday, due to a train derailment on Monday night, I was unable to get to work. No trains were running north of BWI- I’m the stop just north of BWI. I didn’t think about it until after we pulled up to an empty station. It was the oddest thing. So after going home and contacting the people I needed to contact, Amy and I cleaned the refrigerator, filled the pool, and putzed around. I wanted to go to a park and fly my kites. So we headed to Ft. Smallwood park. It costs $4.50 to get in, we drove around and realized that there was no where for me to fly my kites, so we went to get our money back and they don’t give refunds! Argh. So then we headed to a Downes Park, as we got there the gates were closed with a sign saying - Closed on Tuesdays. Argh! We drove around the little communities on the inlet, admiring the tiny beach houses and being amazed at the huge houses being built. We then drove to the otherside of the bay, and found a park called North Point State Park. It used to be the end of the line for a trolly that ran through Baltimore. There was an amusement park there, the old timey pictures hanging in the visitors center made it look like a happening place. Now it’s just a small little beach and jetty at the end of a long road through some plain type land bordered with wooded areas. We walked out onto the jetty and I flew my Hata. I had lots of fun trying to get it close to the water, Amy kept yelling at me cause she didn’t want me to lose it! I never got so close that I thought I wouldn’t be able to recover. After we left there we drove further down the road and drove through Ft. Howard. We were pretty tired by then, we didn’t bother to get out of the car. We then headed to Amy’s mothers house for dinner. It was yummy as usual- Lasagna and green beans. ![]()
Amy and I helped her mom on a database - address book of family members- that she’s going to distribute at the family reunion on Saturday. We got home about 8:30 or so.
The other day when Amy went to Walmart she thought of me. She brought me home a thing of Spearmint Skittles. She had gotten me a thing of Peppermint before and everytime we’re out we look for the other flavors and they never have them. She saw them and picked them up for me. I think they were so much sweeter because of that!
Yesterday Amy had made me cookies. After dinner Stacey commented that she had made them for her. Amy replied that had she made them for her that they’d have been chocolate chip, but no, they were most definately for me, because they were Oatmeal Raisin.
My wide feet is so considerate and I very rarely tell her how much she means to me. I’m awful at that part of relatonships. I do appreciate her greatly, and it takes an awesome woman to put up with my crap. Thanks hon!
We went to DC with my sister and her husband and their 5 kids. It was a lot of fun…. I’ve got pictures here.
Just in time for Caleb’s birthday, we’ll be picking this little guy up:
We took a trip to York county Pennsylvania on Saturday. We left around noon and arrived at Amy’s aunts house around 1:15 or so. It was a pleasant drive, very little traffic, great scenery. The directions Amy’s uncle gave me to turn onto their street, he said, go to the first streetlight and turn right onto their road. So I’m driving down this road and I pass a street sign that was for their street. There was no light. And then the directions were to go to the 4th property on the left. But I didn’t know whether to count the trailer as a property or not. We found their house, but only after we turned around and they ran down their front yard to flag us down. It was a wonderful relaxing time. Out in the country, we probably saw 5 or 6 cars drive down the road in front of their house. Their neighbors across the street have show horses, and Aunt Vickie was tending to them today while the family was out with their miniature horses. I’ve ridden horses before, but never have I been so close to a horse of this size. I’m 6′4″- the horses were both taller than me. I was holding Caleb as I fed them carrots, they were so gentle grabbing the carrots with their lips instead of their teeth. Caleb would shy away as their huge heads would swing towards us. I did my best to keep him close enough to reach out and touch while keeping him safe. Eventually when the horses had enough, the one turned away from us and I was able to get Caleb right up next to her to pet her. He loved it. We’ve got some pictures that we’ll post soon. We had an excellent lunch of roasted chicken on the grill, and baked potatoes, and cole slaw and stove top. We ended up hanging out with them until about 8:00 or so when they drove us to the Brown Cow…. we got some Amish butter and some Amish cheese, we ate a sub and drank awesome Iced Tea…. before heading back to Baltimore. It really was a pleasant day. It’s so great to be close enough to spend the day with so many different family members.
There will be spotty connectivity to our webpages and mailserver over the next few days, I imagine that some may have noticed it over the last couple days as well. I’m working on setting up a new server, a linux machine, and only have one network cable, so it’s sort of difficult to configure the linux machine and have our websites running at the same time. But eventually it will happen. Hopefully before the end of the night, but it’s hard to say. Rob Carlsonis going to be helping me.
